Congress Leaders Lose Sitapur Committee Premises Following Expired Notice

Senior Congress functionaries in Sitapur were forced to relinquish their committee office after the municipal notice period ended. The building, situated near the historic clock tower, had been the subject of a legal battle that reached the Allahabad High Court, where the party’s plea for relief was denied.

On Saturday, the Sub‑Divisional Magistrate Janardan Prasad, along with municipal development officer Kumar, Tehsildar Ajit Jaiswal and accountant Anjani Kumar, arrived with a police contingent to enforce the order.

Inspectors reported that the space was entirely vacant, with no material or documents left inside. The SDM clarified that the property belongs to the Najul land plot and that a fifteen‑day window had been provided for any objections—a requirement that Congress officials failed to meet. With the court rejecting their petition, the administration officially took control of the premises.
