Congress Leader Pledges to Align Punjab Politicians on Common Platform
In Chandigarh on 11 October, Pargat Singh took over as the new head of the Punjab Pradesh Congress. He warned that Punjab's political scenario is drifting without a clear roadmap and vowed to gather all Congress figures onto a unified stage.
He extended heartfelt Navratri wishes before turning to the task of steering Punjab toward a more purposeful political future.
Singh denounced the protest directed at BJP election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, calling it a breach of democratic norms and a symptom of growing authoritarianism.
He also addressed Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s earlier remarks about the party’s internal strength, insisting that Mann engage in logical conversation and promising that a robust Congress team will soon take the lead.
When asked about the party’s future chief ministerial candidate, Singh said the decision will be made by the elected legislators after careful discussion and consensus building.
