Congress accuses BJP of reviving Manusmriti mindset after Uttarakhand event

Following Mallikarjun Kharge's visit to Halduwani, Uttarakhand, Congress leader Sudheer Chaudhary launched a scathing critique of the BJP and RSS, alleging that they are trying to resurrect a Manusmriti‑based social order. Chaudhary reminded the audience that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar dismantled such discriminatory structures, and the present "purification" claim signals a dangerous regression.

He announced that Congress will stage continuous dharna‑pradarshans throughout Punjab until an FIR is lodged against the perpetrators. Additional protests are planned outside the state Congress headquarters in Chandigarh, with demands for swift legal and administrative action.

Shiv Sena MP Arvind Sawant, speaking from Amravati, reinforced the condemnation, stating that any act of caste‑based segregation at a public venue contradicts the Constitution's guarantee of equal rights. He called for a collective effort to uphold constitutional values and to reject divisive ideologies.
