Congress accused of disrespecting national anthem at Delhi office gathering

A video from an Independence Day event at the Congress office in Delhi shows an alleged attempt to interrupt the singing of “Vande Mataram.” Punjab BJP president Keshar Singh Dhillon criticized the act, labeling it a “shameful” violation of national sentiment. He argued that the Congress repeatedly undermines India’s pride and its emblematic songs, which once inspired the nation’s freedom fighters.

Dhillon demanded a formal, unconditional apology from senior Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge, insisting that the party take responsibility for the disrespect shown to a revered national hymn.

Meanwhile, the BJP celebrated a wave of new supporters as more than 250 members of the Gadhwal community switched allegiance from other parties to join the BJP. The incoming group, comprising leaders from Khard, Mohali and Derabassi assemblies, was welcomed by Dhillon, who affirmed that the BJP’s family in Punjab is expanding rapidly and that voters now consider the party their only realistic option for future governance.
