Community Shock as Senior Doctor’s Remains Discovered in Giridih Public Well
A wave of disbelief swept through Giridih on Monday after the body of Dr BN Jha, a senior medical officer who formerly held the post of Deputy Superintendent at Saadar Hospital, was found in a communal well at Lakheri.
Residents who noticed the body alerted Pachamba police, who promptly arrived with assistance from locals to pull the remains out of the water. The deceased was then moved to the hospital for a forensic examination.
According to the police, Dr Jha had left his home for his regular morning stroll and never came back, triggering a search operation that led to the unsettling discovery.
Friends, colleagues, and patients expressed deep sorrow, recalling Dr Jha’s dedication and expertise over many years of service.
Law enforcement officials have begun a comprehensive investigation, treating the death as suspicious. They are gathering physical evidence, analyzing CCTV footage from nearby streets, and interviewing witnesses to reconstruct the events that led to the doctor’s presence in the well. The final cause of death will be disclosed after the post‑mortem and forensic labs complete their analysis.
