Community Leaders Mobilize Support for Nepalese Flood-Affected Regions

The Gorkha Reform Sabha, led by Padam Thapa, has announced a comprehensive relief operation for Nepal's flood‑stricken areas. Thapa expressed profound grief for the families who have lost loved ones and outlined the Sabha’s readiness to deliver financial aid, essential medicines, and relief kits. He noted the historic "beti‑roti" relationship that binds Uttarakhand and Nepal, stressing that families with cross‑border marital links are especially concerned. The organization’s 46 branches across Uttarakhand are actively gathering information, with the Rishikesh branch confirming that most victims are situated in the Rasuwa belt near the Nepal‑Tibet border, while the Bote Koshi and Trishuli river valleys have suffered extensive damages. Volunteers from the Gorkha community, many of whom undertake pilgrimages to Nepal, have been asked to remain on standby. After an internal executive meeting, the Sabha will coordinate the dispatch of monetary support, relief provisions, and medical supplies. Thapa appealed to both Uttarakhand and Delhi administrations to issue guidelines for Nepali students pursuing higher education in India, ensuring they are not compelled to abandon their studies abruptly.
