Coastal Districts Brace for Strong Winds and Storms Amid Low Pressure System

Meteorologists say the low‑pressure area over the Bay of Bengal will intensify over the next two days, pushing strong winds toward the coast of South Bengal. Residents of East Medinipur and South 24‑Parganas should prepare for gusts of up to 50 km/h and possible thunderstorms. Inland districts, such as Jhargram and Purulia, are also forecast to receive heavy rainfall, especially on Tuesday. Kolkata can expect scattered thunderstorm activity with wind speeds of 30‑40 km/h. The IMD has advised authorities in districts like North 24‑Parganas, Bankura, West Bardwan, Birbhum, Murshidabad, and Nadia to stay alert as intermittent rains may continue through Wednesday.
