CM Yogi says Uttar Pradesh’s farm purchases top 1 million tonnes
Lucknow, 10 October – In a post on the social platform X, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the scale of Uttar Pradesh’s procurement operations. He said that between 2017 and March 2026 the state bought more than 5.19 crore metric tonnes of paddy from over 8 million farmers, reflecting the government’s commitment to secure fair prices for producers.
The CM added that the double‑engine approach, guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ensures that farmers receive modern inputs, reliable irrigation and direct cash transfers. These measures have helped raise the agricultural growth rate to 18%, up from 8% earlier, and have positioned Uttar Pradesh as the leading producer of milk, sugarcane and wheat in India.
Furthermore, the state has transferred more than Rs 1,03,833 crore directly to farmer bank accounts, eliminating middlemen and guaranteeing the Minimum Support Price and the Prime Minister’s Samman Nidhi benefits. The recent increase of Rs 71 per quintal in the paddy support price underscores the administration’s focus on farmer earnings.
