CM Warns of Pro‑Kashmir Slogans and Drug Use at Jadavpur University Event

At a Raksha Bandhan program in Kolkata attended by roughly ten thousand people, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari raised alarms over emerging "Kashmir freedom" chants and the prevalence of drug use within Jadavpur University. He linked these issues to a broader pattern of anti‑national sentiment that he says was first fostered by the long‑standing Communist rule and later intensified by the Trinamool Congress.

The CM emphasized that the university, once celebrated for its academic rigor, now displays banners demanding "freedom" that could be interpreted as a license for illicit activities. He questioned the true intent behind such slogans, asking whether students were seeking the liberty to indulge in narcotics on campus.

Adhikari referenced "Operation Sundar," alleging that the operation resulted in the death of Masood Azhar’s family members and warned that the Indian armed forces could soon secure Pakistan‑occupied Kashmir. He assured the audience that, just as extremist elements were expelled from Jawaharlal Nehru University and Osmania University, similar decisive steps would be taken at Jadavpur to eliminate any anti‑national influences.

He concluded by stating that any attempts to glorify the slain Maoist commander Kishanji would be met with firm legal action, and that the state will ensure hostels are free from unauthorized occupation and that drug consumption is completely eradicated.
