CM Suvendu Adhikari vows justice for Barabpur teen murder and mob killing

Kolkata, July 11 – In a high‑profile visit to Barabpur, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari pledged swift justice for the two tragic cases that unfolded in early July. The first involved the murder of 26‑year‑old Indrajit Tanti, who was beaten to death by a crowd after a 12‑year‑old girl’s body was found in a local pond. Although initial rumors linked Tanti to the girl’s alleged rape, police later cleared him of any involvement.

During the visit, the CM unveiled a new police outpost in Sunpur, handed a ₹25 lakh compensation cheque to Tanti’s next‑of‑kin, and announced a civil‑volunteer police post for the victim’s elder brother. He assured that every individual responsible for the girl’s death and the mob homicide will be brought to trial. Four suspects have been arrested; one had attempted to flee to the Bangladesh border near Bashirhat before being captured. The Chief Minister refrained from commenting on a recent encounter death involving a migrant, leaving the matter to the Criminal Investigation Department.
