In a boost to investor confidence, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu highlighted the state’s economic vitality during the presentation of the 2021-22 Economic Survey in the assembly. He declared the economy firmly on track for steady expansion, defying external pressures.
Advance estimates for 2025-26 forecast the GSDP at current prices soaring to Rs 2.54 lakh crore, up 10.1% year-on-year. Real growth is pegged at 8.3%, a testament to robust sectoral performance despite worldwide volatility and weather-related hurdles.
At constant prices (2011-12 base), real GSDP is anticipated at Rs 1,56,681 crore for 2025-26, compared to Rs 1,44,656 crore in 2024-25, improving from the earlier 6.4% growth projection. The primary sector leads with an 8.4% GSVA increase to Rs 18,824 crore.
Services sector thrives on booming tourism, commerce, logistics, and finance, with manufacturing and hydroelectric power providing strong support. Agriculture remains the backbone, bolstering rural economies and food supplies.
Per capita income leaps to Rs 2,83,626, a 9.8% jump and surpassing the national average by Rs 64,051. This marks a dramatic rise from Rs 87,721 in 2011-12, achieving an 8.7% CAGR.
Sukhu’s vision emphasizes inclusive growth, leveraging natural resources and human capital to propel Himachal towards sustainable prosperity. With these figures, the state is poised to attract more investments and enhance welfare programs.
