CM Sangma: Meghalaya's Economy Grows 2x in Five Years

In a resounding address at New Delhi's Meghalaya House, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma announced that Meghalaya's economy has doubled in size over the last five years, marking a new chapter in the state's development journey. The event launched the roadmap for the 'North-East India Infrastructure Summit and Exhibition 2026,' a pivotal two-day gathering set for Shillong on June 11 and 12. 'Meghalaya now boasts a robust entrepreneurship ecosystem, thanks to our Industrial Promotion Policy that offers incentives across all sectors,' the CM noted. He spotlighted the IT boom, with the first IT park fully operational and a second one attracting major corporate interest. Plans to scale up IT infrastructure aim to empower the youth with high-quality jobs. Beyond tech, Sangma celebrated Meghalaya's rising profile in tourism, sports, and creative industries, which are diversifying the economy. This summit represents a strategic platform to accelerate infrastructure projects, blending policy, investment, and innovation.
