CM vows strict action against officials ignoring student safety complaints
Raipur, September 13 – Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sahay of Chhattisgarh has issued a clear warning to any bureaucrat or police officer who fails to act on allegations of mistreatment of girls at the Eklaavya Residential School in Bejapur. He instructed the district collector and the superintendent of police to launch a comprehensive inquiry, identify culpable parties, and enforce stringent legal penalties.
The CM made it unequivocal that the protection of children is a non‑negotiable priority. Any official found attempting to hide, delay, or diminish the seriousness of such complaints will be subjected to rigorous disciplinary proceedings.
Furthermore, Sahay mandated that all district collectors and police superintendents across the state undertake regular inspections of girls’ hostels, ashrams, and boarding schools. The inspections must assess security provisions, the presence of trustworthy staff, and the effectiveness of mechanisms for addressing student grievances.
He emphasized the importance of creating a climate where girls can approach authorities without fear of reprisal. Administrators are urged to adopt a proactive stance, continuously engaging with students to spot and neutralize potential threats before they materialize.
The education department and police have been directed to act in unison whenever reports of abuse, intimidation, or threats arise, ensuring immediate counseling and support for the affected students.
Reiterating the government's unwavering commitment, the chief minister stressed that the safety, respect, and dignity of children residing in residential schools are paramount. Any negligence at any level will trigger decisive action, and those responsible will face no leniency.
