Chief Minister Meets Affected Families, Promises Jobs and Full Medical Costs

During a press briefing on Sunday, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari highlighted his one‑on‑one meetings with thirteen bereaved families from the recent Kolkata pandal tragedy. He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to provide each family with a job and a cash compensation of Rs 2.5 lakh.

The CM also announced that the government will bear 100 percent of medical expenses for all injured persons and will grant an extra Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased. He called for heightened vigilance during the ongoing 58,000 Durga Puja celebrations across the state, emphasizing the need for proper crowd management, adequate lighting, and clearly marked entry‑exit routes.

Adhikari’s statements came after Prime Minister Modi’s announcement of relief funds and ahead of Home Minister Amit Shah’s planned visit to the trauma centre treating the victims.
