CM Man pledged solutions for staff grievances after protest

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has promised a roadmap to resolve the grievances raised by Punjab's government employees after a series of protests across the state. Speaking on the platform X, he underlined that the government is prepared to listen to every justified concern, but emphasized that dialogue can only start once the strike is called off.

The union leader Ashneel Kumar Sharma described the protest at the District Collector's office as a reluctant measure, stating that the staff would have preferred a peaceful dialogue if the administration had extended an invitation marked by respect and empathy. He reported that fifteen to twenty alliances of employees participated in what was described as a one‑day bandh.

Key issues highlighted include a demand for a higher dearness allowance to offset inflation pressures, as well as the reinstatement of previous pension schemes. The union has previously approached the judiciary to obtain relief on these demands.

Ram Kumar, president of the Junior Engineers Council City Circle, confirmed that while most government workers are on a collective holiday, the council remains on duty. He assured that power supply will continue uninterrupted and that the council is ready to act swiftly in any emergency, balancing the right to protest with the need to protect public utilities.
