CM Dhami Urges Pilgrims to Explore Ancient Kapileshwar Shrine Near Almora

On Thursday, Uttarakhand’s chief minister, Pankaj Singh Dhami, uploaded a video of Kapileshwar Shiv temple on the social network X, inviting worshippers to experience the site. The temple stands about 12 kilometres from Almora city, near the hamlet of Simlti, and is regarded as one of the region’s oldest places of worship, constructed during the Katyuri reign.

The minister emphasized that Saawan brings a host of special ceremonies, enhancing the sacred vibe of the shrine. He specifically asked travelers arriving in Almora to make a point of seeing the Kapileshwar temple as part of their itinerary.

In a related post on August 12, Dhami showcased the Nilkanth Mahadev temple in Paudi, Garhwal – a revered destination close to Rishikesh where thousands of Shiva devotees bring Ganga water for ritual bathing.

He also recalled the successful execution of Kavad Mela‑2026 on August 11, praising the coordinated actions of law‑enforcement, medical teams, disaster response units, cleanliness workers, NGOs and community members for a safe and orderly event.
