CM Bhagwant Mann Opens Punjab’s Fourth ‘Khedan Vatan’ Season with Star Performances

The fourth season of ‘Khedan Vatan Punjab Diyaan’ kicked off on Saturday in Bathinda, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann cutting the ribbon. Punjabi singers Gurdaas Mann and Kulwinder Billa entertained the crowd, marking the start of a week‑long celebration of sport.

The program showcases 38 events, ranging from traditional games to four para‑sports, and incorporates tennis‑ball cricket exhibitions for both boys and girls at the village level. Participants span nine age categories, welcoming competitors from 14 years up to senior age groups.

Baltej Pannu, the state’s media spokesperson, assured that all prize money will be deposited directly into athletes’ bank accounts without delay. He also highlighted that financial aid for Commonwealth, Asian and Olympic hopefuls is already earmarked, reflecting the government’s commitment to competitive excellence.

Punjab is simultaneously rolling out over 3,100 village‑scale stadiums, each fitted with floodlights and basic sporting equipment, encouraging children to engage in evening matches of football, volleyball, cricket and other activities.
