CM Ahir Calls Gerua Symbol of Sacrifice, Announces Public March

Chief Minister Shubhandu Ahir described the Gerua colour as more than just a shade, referring to it as a living emblem of sacrifice, dedication, and Indian heritage. During a press briefing, Ahir announced a public march scheduled for September 9, starting from Golpark and moving toward Jadupur, with an expected turnout of thousands.

The chief minister criticised recent media portrayals that paired the Gerua colour with the term “tandav,” calling it a deliberate attempt to tarnish the hue’s sanctity. He urged citizens, community leaders, and cultural organisations to rally behind the cause and reinforce the colour’s dignity.

Political commentators suggest the march also serves to address the fallout from the Jadupur University incident, where nationalist slogans were painted over left‑leaning placards. The government hopes the Gerua Honour March will consolidate public sentiment around patriotism and cultural continuity.
