The inaugural cloud‑seeding flight lifted off from Bangalore’s HAL airport after the minister hoisted the Indian tricolour and the Karnataka state flag. The aircraft is equipped to disperse hygroscopic agents such as silver iodide, potassium iodide, dry ice and sodium chloride, depending on cloud type and temperature.

These chemicals encourage condensation, potentially enhancing rainfall over designated catchment zones, reservoirs and drought‑prone districts. The operation will not be confined to a single district; instead, aircraft deployment will be driven by live meteorological data and expert assessment, ensuring optimal use of resources.
