CJP warns of fresh protests if student intimidation continues
Jaipur, July 28 — The Cockroach Janata Party issued a stark warning on Monday, stating that it will revive protest actions if the reported harassment of students by Rajasthan police does not stop. The party alleges that, despite a July 25 written understanding to withdraw all legal cases against participants of the NEET paper‑leak sit‑ins, police officers are still making house visits and phone calls aimed at intimidating demonstrators.
In a recorded message, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said, “Our core team members are being repeatedly targeted. We expect the central government to publish the July 25 agreement and ensure its implementation.”
Ranka urged both the central and state governments to abide by the pact, pointing to examples from Bihar, where all student‑related cases have been dropped, and West Bengal, where every FIR concerning the protests has been dismissed.
The CJP added that a continuation of these tactics would force them to mobilise another wave of street actions. The NEET leak protests saw a massive turnout, with students travelling to Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and other locations, while in Rajasthan, sit‑ins and roadblocks were organised in Jaipur and surrounding towns.
The Rajasthan police have yet to provide an official statement on the party’s accusations.
