Civil Aviation Policy 2025 Drives Rural Air Access in Madhya Pradesh
The Civil Aviation Policy‑2025 is reshaping the aviation landscape of Madhya Pradesh by targeting underserved rural areas. The policy sets ambitious density targets: a full‑scale airport within 150 km, an airstrip every 75 km and a helipad every 45 km. This will translate into a seamless network that connects remote villages to major urban centers.
To meet these goals, the state plans permanent helipads in all 230 legislative constituencies and is seeking central government approval for five new airports, with Singrauli receiving top priority. Additionally, ten existing airstrips—ranging from Singrauli to Shahdol—are proposed for upgrade to airport status, thereby extending the reach of commercial flights.
The enhanced network is expected to boost tourism to heritage sites like Khajuraho, improve the delivery of health services via air ambulances, and provide a reliable conduit for emergency response teams in case of natural disasters or accidents.
