Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav: PM Modi Stresses Nation, Youth and Culture
The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, opened the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav global conference in New Delhi on Friday. In his address, he said the nation's youth are at the centre of his government's policies and efforts. He expressed pleasure that young people had also taken on key responsibilities in the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav.
He pointed out that many young volunteers covered 40,000 kilometres in roughly 300 days and connected with over one lakh young people in the process. Appreciating their campaign, he congratulated the entire team and wished them well.
The Prime Minister cited the Upanishadic verse 'Vayam Amritasya Putrah', which translates as 'we are the children of immortality'. He said this belief is not confined to spiritual philosophy but forms part of the country's cultural faith. Consciousness is immortal, he explained, and so are knowledge and realisation. This awareness, he said, is why India has endured for thousands of years, as the word 'Bharat' signifies a seeker of knowledge and light.
He went on to say that when the nation reached 75 years of independence, he felt the moment should inspire the vision of a developed India. He emphasised the need to bring alive the India that knows how to live by immortal thoughts.
Modi recalled his call to celebrate the occasion as Amrit Mahotsav. Remarkable journeys, he said, have continued to join that resolve over time. Several spiritual, cultural and social institutions took Amrit Sankalp at important points in their journeys, and now the Chinmaya Mission is also linking itself to the Amrit Kaal campaign. He called such collective commitments the true strength of India's resolutions and proof of being children of immortality.
