In response to accusations that the ruling party was hoarding key portfolios, Chief Minister V.D. Sathyabhama rejected claims that the Finance, Ports and Law departments had been deliberately kept under his direct control. He clarified that he had no intention of retaining the Finance portfolio and that he only assumed the charge after persistent urging from his cabinet colleagues. "I had no interest in keeping the Finance Ministry to myself; I accepted it solely because my team pressed me to do so," the chief minister remarked, dismissing the criticism as unfounded.
