Chief Minister Sathyaseelan Orders Safe Excavation of Tunnel Debris
In a post on the X social media platform, Kerala’s chief minister V.D. Sathyaseelan confirmed the creation of a specialist three‑member committee to report on the safe removal of soil accumulated at the Kalladi tunnel construction zone. The announcement came after a high‑level meeting that also involved the Home and Public Works ministers.
The panel’s members – Dr. Santosh G. Thampi, Dr. Jude Emmanuel, and an NCESS representative – will examine the current storage of the earth, assess risks posed by ongoing monsoon conditions, and suggest engineering solutions for secure excavation. The chief minister emphasized that the state will enforce stricter compliance from contractors and will regularly inspect high‑risk sites across Kerala’s national highway projects.
