Chief Minister Reiterates New Liquor Policy Focus on Safety and Revenue

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the upcoming liquor policy will center on three pillars: enhancing citizen safety, enforcing responsible licensing, and increasing fiscal returns for the state. The policy will mandate stricter quality checks for bonded liquor supplied through government‑run retail outlets, hotels, clubs, and restaurants.

During the announcement, the minister stressed that ensuring a steady supply of legal alcohol during festivals is essential to prevent black‑market activity, while simultaneously cracking down on illegal sales and transportation.
