Chief Minister Inspects Site After Six Killed in Delhi Structure Failure

Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, together with Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa and a local MLA, inspected the Satyaniketan area on Monday following the collapse of a five‑storey building that resulted in six fatalities. The officials announced that a First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against the building's owner and that any government officers found negligent will face stringent action.

The Delhi High Court has taken cognizance of the incident, with a public interest litigation filed for an urgent hearing before the division bench of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay and Justice Tejas Karia. The court has pledged to hear the matter on the same day.

According to AIIMS, eleven patients were transported to the JPN Apex Trauma Centre. Five arrived dead, and a sixth later died from severe injuries. Three remain under treatment, while one minor injury case was discharged after observation. Safdarjung Hospital reported two additional admissions, one of which is now stable. The collapsed building, described as old and weakened by water accumulation in its basement, will be demolished along with an adjacent vacant structure as a preventive measure.
