Chief Minister Announces Rs 4 Lakh Relief for Family of Fire Victim

Following the fatal house fire in Khawhai, Mizoram's chief minister announced a compensation package of ₹4 lakhs for the family of the deceased.

The tragedy claimed the life of Lalhariatzuali (Vohbik), a 21‑year‑old woman with a physical impairment who was unable to evacuate the burning home. The fire reduced the house to rubble before emergency teams could intervene.

Officials confirmed that the residence usually shelters four family members, but the victim was alone at the time. The cause of the blaze has not yet been established.

The chief minister expressed heartfelt sympathy, urging the community to support the grieving relatives and assuring that additional assistance will be considered under existing disaster response provisions.
