Yellow Weather Alerts for Bihar and Jharkhand as Monsoon Rains

The monsoon, now in its closing chapter, continues to unleash rain across vast stretches of India on September 16, prompting a slew of weather alerts.

In Delhi, the sky will stay overcast with scattered light showers, while temperatures hover between a peak of 35 °C and a low of 25 °C. Expect a repeat of this pattern on the following day.

Uttar Pradesh anticipates a mix of thunderstorms and rain, especially in its western and eastern sectors, with intensity ranging from light to moderate.

A yellow alert has been activated for 25 districts in Bihar. Authorities caution that winds may gust up to 30 km/h, increasing the chance of localized damage.

Jharkhand’s alert covers 14 districts, where heavy rain and thunderstorm activity are forecast.

Punjab’s weather officers have warned of heavy rain, frequent lightning and strong gusts across several districts.

Rajasthan continues to wrestle with a heavy‑rain and strong‑wind warning that will persist for several days, affecting both desert and plain zones.

Madhya Pradesh carries a yellow alert, and while most of the state stays dry, isolated pockets could see light drizzle.

In Chhattisgarh, multiple districts have been placed under a thunderstorm‑rain alert, indicating the possibility of sudden downpours.

Gujarat’s major towns — Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Kachchh, Vadodara, Jamnagar and Bhavnagar — are likely to encounter intermittent showers.

Maharashtra’s coastal Konkan region expects intermittent rain, whereas Marathwada and Vidarbha may see partial cloud cover and occasional light rain.

West Bengal is under a heavy‑rain alert with anticipated wind speeds of 30‑40 km/h, and neighboring Odisha has been flagged for both rain and strong winds.

The hill belts demand special attention. Uttarakhand will experience light to moderate rain across several districts. Himachal Pradesh’s popular hill stations — Shimla, Kullu, Manali, Kangra, Dharamshala, Solan and Mandi — are slated for thunderstorms. Jammu & Kashmir also faces heavy rain and gusty winds. The saturated slopes in Himachal, Uttarakhand and the Kashmir valley elevate landslide risk.

Officials urge citizens to heed the advisories, keep emergency kits ready, and avoid venturing into vulnerable zones until the weather stabilises.
