World Tourism Day: GPM district receives ‘Best District Promotion Award’ Archaeological heritage Dhanpur based coffee table book launch District’s rich natural, cultural and historical heritage gets new recognition Raipur, the Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district has achieved a significant accomplishment in tourism. For the remarkable efforts to promote tourism in the district and to effectively present its rich natural, historical, archaeological and cultural heritage before the world, the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board honored the GPM district with the ‘Best District Promotion Award’. In the state capital Raipur on September 27, on the occasion of World Tourism Day, the award was presented during the ‘Central India Connect Marketplace’ organized jointly by the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board and the Chhattisgarh Travel Trade Association (CGTTA). On this occasion, an attractive coffee table book based on the district’s important archaeological and cultural heritage ‘Dhanpur’ was also unveiled. The coffee table book was launched by Tourism and Culture Minister Shri Rajesh Agrawal, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Shri Neelu Sharma, Secretary of the Tourism Department Dr. S. Bhartidasan, Managing Director of the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Shri Saumil Ranjan Chaubey, Collector GPM Shri Vijay Dayaram, and the Chief Executive Officer of the District Panchayat Shri Mukesh Rawate. The coffee table book dedicated to Dhanpur’s archaeological and cultural features presents the area’s historical significance, archaeological heritage and tourism potentials in an attractive and effective manner. This initiative will give Dhanpur a new identity on the state and national tourism maps and also help increase tourists’ interest in other tourism and cultural heritage of the GPM district. It is noteworthy that Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district is rich in natural beauty as well as archaeological, religious and cultural heritage. The district administration is continuously working to identify, preserve, promote and develop tourism sites and potentials. The ‘Best District Promotion Award’ is an important recognition of these efforts. This honor will provide new energy to the efforts to develop GPM as a major tourism destination.
