World-famous historic Bastar Dussehra festival will start tomorrow with Pat Jatra puja ceremony. The 75‑day historic festival will feature traditional rituals and the event will be held in the precinct of the Danteshwari temple. Raipur – In the precinct of the revered goddess Danteshwari’s temple in Bastar, the world‑renowned Bastar Dussehra festival will commence on Wednesday, 12 August, on the auspicious occasion of Hariyali Amavasya, with Pat Jatra puja ceremony. During this, traditional Manjhi‑Chalki, member‑memberin, priests, Patel, Naik‑Paik and service‑providers will perform the Shthurlu Khotalash ritual for making tools for chariot construction. The Bastar Dussehra committee has urged all service‑providers, villagers and distinguished citizens to take part in this puja ceremony. The main program of the 75‑day Bastar Dussehra has been announced: starting from Wednesday 12 August with the Pat Jatra puja ceremony, followed by Dairy Gadai puja on Thursday 24 September, Kachhan Gadi puja on Saturday 10 October, Kalash Sthapana puja on Sunday 11 October, Joggi Bithai puja on Monday 12 October. From 13 to 18 October daily Navratri puja and chariot circumambulation puja will be held, with Bell puja at 11 am on Sunday 18 October, Mahashtami puja and Nisha Jatra puja on Monday 19 October, Kumari puja, Joggi Uthai puja and Mavli Parghav on Tuesday 20 October. On Wednesday 21 October, Bithar Rani puja and chariot circumambulation, on Thursday 22 October outside Rani puja and chariot circumambulation, on Friday 23 October morning Kachhan Jatra puja and in the afternoon the historic Muria court will be organized. Saturday 24 October will see Kutumb Jatra puja and the farewell of village deities, and on Tuesday 27 October the formal conclusion of the festival will be marked with the farewell of Mavli Mata’s palanquin puja. Dedicated to Goddess Danteshwari, this 75‑day Dussehra festival is famous worldwide for its unique folk traditions, tribal culture and grand rituals.
