Massive turnout at Mega Health Camp
More than 6,500 people benefited from the health camp
Raipur April 07, 2026/ Mega Health Camp is a premier free health camp where renowned super specialist doctors provide free treatment, investigation, and medicines for diseases like cancer, heart disease, gynecology, and eye diseases. It also offers Ayurvedic treatment, prosthetic limb distribution for the disabled, and modern diagnostic facilities. In this era of the end of Red Terror, as an atmosphere of peace and security has been established in the region, the administration’s reach to the last person has become easier.
A two-day super specialty mega health camp, organized through the joint efforts of the Sukma District Administration and NTR Foundation of Bengaluru, was held the other day. Inaugurated by the state’s Minister for Forest and Climate Change and Guardian Minister of Sukma district, Shri Kedar Kashyap, this mega health camp saw over 3,700 villagers from sensitive and remote areas fearlessly attending, who were once cut off from the mainstream. Under the instructions of Commissioner Bastar, Shri Doman Singh, and under the guidance of Collector Shri Amit Kumar, the presence of over 6,500 beneficiaries at this mega health camp proved that villagers are now emerging from the shadow of guns and trusting modern medicine and expert consultations. During the camp, a team of 21 specialist doctors and 40 health warriors worked as guardian angels for these forest dwellers.
The picture of Sukma district, once gripped by the fear of Red Terror in the remote regions of Bastar, has completely changed. After piercing through decades of conflict and clouds of fear, new rays of development and prosperity are now spreading here. The two-day super specialty mega health camp, organized through the joint efforts of the Sukma District Administration and NTR Foundation of Bengaluru, is a living testament that Sukma has now broken free from the shackles of Naxalism and is on the path to becoming healthy and empowered. This camp, held on March 28 and 29 at the Mini Stadium, sent a clear message that where there was once the roar of bullets, today the songs of service and dedication are being sung.
The camp not only addressed common ailments but also provided expert treatment for serious conditions like cancer, heart disease, and neurology. 989 pairs of spectacles were distributed to the elderly who were deprived of health facilities during the Naxal era, bringing light back into their blurred world. Furthermore, a comprehensive health check-up of 1,500 children was conducted with a resolve to free the coming generation from malnutrition and diseases. Specifically, cancer screening for 85 women and the creation of 2,300 Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) IDs symbolize that Sukma is now being equipped with digital health and safety nets.
Sukma’s transformation after the elimination of Red Terror is an inspiring model for the entire country. This camp was not just a medical event but a celebration of the people’s unwavering faith in the governance and administration. The on-the-spot creation of 153 Ayushman cards ensures that even the poorest person in the remote region will no longer be deprived of treatment due to lack of funds. Sukma is emerging as a role model towards universal health coverage, leaving behind its identity of Naxalism, where every face is smiling and every step is moving towards a happy future.
