Western India Braces for Intense Rain in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa

The southwest monsoon is advancing rapidly over western coastal regions. Gujarat’s Saurashtra-Kutch belt, the Konkan-Goa stretch, and central Maharashtra, including the Marathwada zone, have all been placed under a heavy rain alert. Between 7 and 8 July, several districts in Gujarat and Konkan could see very heavy showers. Kerala’s coastal districts and both coastal and interior parts of Karnataka are predicted to receive rain accompanied by gusty winds of 50-70 km/h. Officials warn of possible urban flooding, traffic disruptions, landslides in hilly terrain, and damage to temporary structures.
