Women's Lives Transformed by Van Dhan Yojana

Success Story

Rural women from Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh have proven that with the right training, government support, and market facilities, women can achieve self-reliance and gain a new identity. Mrs. Kanta Bai, President of Van Dhan Vikas Kendra Cooperative Society, Panchakki, in Jashpur district, is an inspiring example of this transformation.

New Opportunity Through Van Dhan Yojana

This center, operated under the Prime Minister's Van Dhan Vikas Yojana, has provided both employment and respect to the women of the Oraon tribe. Earlier, these women were solely dependent on forest produce collection, but now they are earning a good income by preparing value-added products from forest produce.

Training and Technology Boost Confidence

With the support of the Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Cooperative Federation and TRIFED, women received training in modern technology, product manufacturing, packaging, and marketing. Essential machinery and other facilities were also provided.

Several Products Including Chyawanprash Prepared

After training, women started preparing several herbal products, including Chyawanprash, from medicinal forest produce. These products were launched in the market under the 'Chhattisgarh Herbals' brand, giving them good recognition and demand.

Business Worth 1.91 Crore Rupees

By March 2026, Van Dhan Vikas Kendra, Panchakki, has achieved a business turnover of approximately 1.91 crore rupees. This has led to a significant increase in the income of the women in the cooperative, and they are playing an important role in strengthening their families' economic condition.

New Identity Gained

Along with economic empowerment, the confidence of the women has also increased. Today, they are recognized with respect in their village and society. Under the leadership of Mrs. Kanta Bai, this center has become a source of inspiration for other women as well.

The Van Dhan Vikas Yojana is proving to be an effective initiative connecting rural and tribal women with employment, income, and self-reliance. This scheme is bringing positive changes in the lives of women by providing them with self-employment opportunities based on local resources.
