A meeting will be held in all 194 bodies on the same day, nodal officers will review the work of the bodies. Raipur. June 5, 2026. Smt. Sangita R., Secretary of the Urban Administration and Development Department, on Thursday reviewed the progress of five major urban development schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), with all 194 urban bodies of the state. The meeting included a detailed review of scheme implementation, financial progress, quality of construction works, and adherence to timelines. A detailed review of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) was conducted in the review meeting. During this, subjects like housing construction progress, occupancy status, and coordination with beneficiaries were discussed in detail. Secretary Smt. Sangita R. clarified that September 2026 is the last deadline under PM Awas Yojana (Urban) 1.0 and no extension will be granted thereafter. She said that no additional financial assistance will be available from the central or state government after the stipulated deadline. In such a situation, the concerned urban bodies will have to bear the financial burden required to complete the projects themselves. The Secretary directed all urban bodies to complete the work within the stipulated period and ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach the eligible beneficiaries. She emphasized speeding up construction work, increasing active participation of beneficiaries, and making the recovery of beneficiary contributions more effective. She also directed for timely implementation of schemes, regular review, and speedy resolution of pending cases. She instructed urban bodies with weak performance to expedite their work and ensure accountability, stating that action will be taken against the concerned officers and contractors in case of continuously poor performance. The meeting also reviewed Swachh Bharat Mission, AMRUT Mission, Mukhyamantri Nagarothan Yojana, and other urban development projects. During this, issues related to land availability, project progress, and construction quality were discussed. The Secretary directed for quick resolution of all obstacles, standardization of processes, and completion of projects related to water supply, sanitation, and other basic civic amenities with the highest priority. To strengthen the ground-level monitoring of the schemes, all state-level nodal officers have been directed to regularly visit the urban bodies in their allocated districts. For the first time on June 6, all nodal officers will visit their districts to assess the progress of the schemes, challenges, and the actual status of implementation. The aim of this initiative is to ensure effective monitoring of the schemes, quick resolution of problems, and quality of work at the field level. The meeting also emphasized strengthening ward-level data monitoring, completing approved projects in a time-bound manner, and establishing better coordination between the district administration and urban bodies. Secretary Smt. Sangita R. said that the state government is committed to transparent, accountable, and citizen-centric urban development, and continuous efforts are being made to promote effective implementation of schemes, optimal utilization of created assets, and a results-based work culture.
