Satya Rajput, Raipur. Municipal elections in Chhattisgarh will be held in one phase and the nomination process for this has started from Wednesday. A total of 7 nominations were filed on the first day. Of these, 3 nominations were filed for councilor and 4 for mayor. Only three forms have been submitted from Raipur district, whereas in the remaining 32 districts the nomination account has not even been opened.
One nomination was filed in Bilaspur, two in Mungeli and one in Surguja. In other 30 districts not a single nomination was filed on the first day. In this regard, the State Election Commission has released the list of nominations, in which it can be seen from which places the nominations of the candidates have been filed.
Schedule of urban body and three-tier Panchayat elections
The code of conduct has come into effect in Chhattisgarh from January 20. The nomination process for urban body elections will run from January 22 to January 28. The last date for withdrawal of nomination is 31 January. Voting for urban body elections will take place on 11 February and the results will be declared on 15 February. This time the urban body elections will be conducted through Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).
The nomination process for Panchayat elections will start from January 27 and the last date for withdrawal of nomination will be February 6. Panchayat elections will be held in three phases, whose dates are 17, 20 and 23 February. Its results will be declared on 18, 21 and 24 February.
Elections will be held in these municipal corporations
This time elections will be held in 10 major municipal corporations of Chhattisgarh. These include Ambikapur, Korba, Chirmiri, Jagdalpur, Durg, Dhamtari, Bilaspur, Rajnandgaon, Raigarh and Raipur Municipal Corporations. Apart from this, elections will also be held in 49 municipalities and 114 nagar panchayats. Elections will also be held for 433 members of District Panchayat and 2973 posts of District Panchayat. Voting will be held on 11672 posts of Sarpanch and 1 lakh 60 thousand 180 posts of Ward Panch in Gram Panchayats.
