Upcoming Cabinet Agenda Includes VB‑G Rural Scheme and Atal Haats Initiative
Chhattisgarh’s cabinet will reconvene on 8 July in the Mahānadi Bhawan, New Raipur, at 11:30 a.m., under the leadership of the Chief Minister. The General Administration Department has dispatched an official circular to all ministries requesting their presence.
The agenda lists more than ten critical proposals, with special focus on the agricultural calendar and the forthcoming legislative session. The meeting is expected to ratify several high‑impact rural development programmes.
Among the carry‑over items, the "VB‑G RAM‑JI" scheme – formally titled "Developed India – Guarantee Mission for Employment and Livelihood (Rural)" – received cabinet endorsement in the previous session. The scheme obliges the government to provide a statutory guarantee of 125 days of unskilled work per financial year to adult members of qualifying rural households. It also earmarks funds for water‑resource management, rural infrastructure, and livelihood‑oriented assets, with a 60:40 centre‑state cost share and a Rs 4,000 crore allocation for FY 2026‑27.
The cabinet also approved the launch of the "Atal Livelihood Prosperity Haats" programme, which will establish creation centres (handloom, tailoring, handicrafts), processing units (pulses, oilseeds, rice mills, dairy), service hubs (cold storage, solar dryers, equipment repair, digital kiosks), marketing points and supply depots across villages. The objective is to convert existing capital and machinery into engines of local production, processing, and market linkage, thereby creating self‑employment and entrepreneurial opportunities for villagers.
A further resolution adopted the draft "Chhattisgarh Compressed Bio‑Gas Policy, 2026". The policy outlines systematic conversion of agricultural residues, municipal solid waste, and animal waste into compressed bio‑gas, targeting an annual output of about five lakh tonnes. The initiative is projected to improve waste management, cut greenhouse‑gas emissions, and generate organic fertilizer while fostering a new rural bio‑energy economy.
All three programmes will be revisited and possibly refined during the July‑8 cabinet meeting, where detailed implementation guidelines, monitoring frameworks, and additional budgetary provisions are expected to be approved.
