Transformation of Mahasamund's Government Primary School Chanat through PM Shree School Upgradation

PM Shree School upgradation has transformed the government primary school Chanat in Mahasamund. Modern facilities and activity-based education have increased children's interest in studies. Attractive print-rich classrooms, a herbal garden, clean drinking water and sports-cultural activities have changed the school's image. Raipur, under the Seva Sankalp campaign, the picture of the remote forest-area government primary school Chanat has changed through the PM Shree scheme. Modern educational facilities, an attractive environment and activity-based teaching have increased children's interest in learning. The positive changes have made parents from nearby villages eager to send their children here. The School Education Department, together with the state government, strives to provide quality education and a better academic environment to children in remote rural and forest areas as well as cities. PM Shree schools are turning this commitment into reality. The school is becoming a centre for holistic development, not just a place for study, with infrastructure, sports, yoga, music, creative activities and hygiene given special attention. The government primary school in the village Chanat of Basna development block, Mahasamund district, was upgraded to a PM Shree school in 2023. Since then, infrastructure and academic facilities have been continuously expanded. An additional classroom has been built for the balwadi, and a separate room for bagless-day activities where group activities, music, yoga and various creative activities are conducted. The school now has well-equipped teaching rooms, an attractive print-rich environment, pure drinking water, improved sanitation, a beautiful garden and sports and cultural facilities. The main entrance, toilets and water-harvesting structures have also been constructed. Pebble blocks placed in the school yard have made the campus mud-free and organized. A well-equipped garden with six rows has been developed to make the campus green and attractive. A herbal garden with amla, basil, curry leaves, bay leaf, aloe vera, clove and peepal and other useful plants has been planted, providing practical knowledge of plants and their uses to children. All classrooms have a child-friendly print-rich environment. Walls and teaching materials display days of the week, Hindi alphabet, months, geometric shapes, electronic devices, the solar system and national symbols—peacock, lotus, tricolor, Ashoka pillar and banyan—in an engaging way, giving children the opportunity to learn easily through activity-based methods. A hand-wash corner has also been developed. Children are now regularly washing hands after using the toilet and before meals, increasing personal hygiene awareness. Through PM Shree schools, children are being connected to modern, enjoyable and quality education, with emphasis on personality and creative capacity development. The transformation of the government primary school Chanat exemplifies how better infrastructure and a positive academic environment can make even remote schools attractive centers for children and parents.
