Narayanpur, March 12, 2026// The National Rural Livelihood Mission’s Bihan Yojana is bringing positive changes in the lives of rural women. Joining this scheme, Shanti Dugga, a resident of Kurushnar village in the Abujhmad region, has strengthened her family’s economic condition and set an example of self-reliance.
Shanti Dugga joined the Roshni Self-Help Group on August 19, 2019, her village organization was named Pratigya. Initially, her family’s economic condition was not good. The main sources of livelihood were limited to agriculture, forest produce collection, and labor. After joining the group, she started saving regularly. The group received a revolving fund of Rs 15,000 and a community investment fund of Rs 60,000 from the government, which initiated transactions and economic activities among the group members.
Through bank linkage, Shanti Durga first started a grocery store business by taking a loan of Rs 1 lakh. After that, she started a clothing business by taking a loan of Rs 2.70 lakh. To facilitate market and fair activities, she also bought a pickup vehicle, which started generating additional income for her. Later, she bought a tractor by taking a loan of Rs 6 lakh from the group in the third phase. Through all these activities, her family’s annual income has now reached approximately Rs 4 to 5 lakh, leading to a significant improvement in the family’s economic condition.
Shanti Dugga says that the Bihan Yojana of the Chhattisgarh government is no less than a boon for her. Because of this scheme, her family is living a happy life today, and her children are able to receive good education and health facilities. Shanti Dugga has thanked Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai. This success shows that if rural women join self-help groups and take advantage of the schemes, they can become economically empowered and play an important role in the development of their families and society.
