Jashpur, Chhattisgarh erupted in shock following a heinous gang-rape and attempted murder of a minor girl. The 17-year-old was walking back from a community drama performance late on February 16 when two predators posed as helpful Samaritans. They convinced her to hop on their motorcycle for a ride home, but instead veered off into a remote forested area for their vile act.
Post-assault, the duo throttled her neck to silence any witnesses, leaving her for dead in dense foliage by the power sub-station road. Discovered barely alive by locals on February 17 evening, she received initial care at a nearby facility before being shifted to Pathalgaon and then to Ambikapur Medical College due to her critical condition.
An FIR was filed two days later, with law enforcement vowing to apprehend the culprits soon. The family pleads for severe retribution while the community reels from the trauma. This barbaric crime has ignited calls for enhanced patrolling and women’s safety initiatives, reminding everyone of the lurking dangers in seemingly peaceful villages.
