Raipur, In Chhattisgarh, swift action has been taken in a serious case in Narayanpur under the state government's zero tolerance policy against corruption and abuse of power. The police have arrested the then Station In-charge Suresh Chandra Yadav and sent him on judicial remand on allegations of irregularities and illegal recovery in the one crore accident insurance claim received by the wife of the deceased DSF constable late Shri Dhaneshwar Nuret. A lawyer has also been accused of serious allegations in the case, and a search is on for him.
According to the police, after the death of DSF constable late Shri Dhaneshwar Nuret in a road accident, his wife received a one crore accident insurance amount in her bank account under the salary package of the State Bank of India. It is alleged that the then Station In-charge Suresh Chandra Yadav and lawyer Krishna Kumar Verma took 19 lakh rupees from the deceased's family in the name of getting the insurance amount.
Not only this, the accused allegedly demanded a 50 percent share in the remaining insurance amount. When the family objected, they were threatened with filing a case in court, legal action, and continuous mental harassment. Troubled by the continuous demand for additional money by the accused, the family of the deceased constable lodged a complaint at the Superintendent of Police office, Narayanpur.
Upon receiving the complaint, the police took the matter seriously and immediately started an investigation. Based on the facts that emerged from the preliminary investigation, a case was registered at Kotwali Narayanpur police station under sections 318, 308, and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (BNS). Thereafter, the accused Suresh Chandra Yadav was arrested and produced in court, from where he was sent on judicial remand. Meanwhile, the police are continuously raiding to arrest the co-accused lawyer Krishna Kumar Verma. Further legal action is ongoing in the case.
Indeed, this action against the accused is proof of the Chhattisgarh government's zero tolerance policy against corruption and misconduct. The police administration states that if any officer or employee in the law enforcement system is found to be involved in illegal recovery, corruption, or any kind of irregularity by misusing their position, strict action will be taken against them according to the law without any discrimination. Maintaining the trust of common citizens is the highest priority.
