Over 65 participants from Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh participated in the Devpur Nature Camp in Barnawapara Sanctuary. Raipur, May 23, 2026/ A special nature camp for children was organized in Devpur, near the Barnawapara Sanctuary in Balodabazar-Bhatapara district of Chhattisgarh. This summer nature camp, held before the intense heat of Nautapa, provided children with an opportunity to gain important knowledge about bird watching and the environment along with adventure. This special camp is organized to bring children closer to nature, impart knowledge about environmental conservation, and teach them in an exciting way about local wildlife and birds. Under the guidance of Forest Divisional Officer Shri Dhammashil Ganveer, a special summer camp was successfully organized at Devpur Nature Camp under the Barnawapara Sanctuary. The main objective of this unique camp, which ran from May 16 to May 22, was to provide children with an opportunity to learn and understand practically in the midst of nature, moving beyond bookish knowledge, and to absorb new experiences. More than 65 participants from Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh participated More than 65 participants, including children of the Forest Department's field staff from Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, enthusiastically participated in this summer camp. All the children enjoyed adventurous and creative activities while staying in the lap of nature and described the camp as very memorable for them. Children were taken for jungle treks and bird watching every morning, where they closely identified the natural habitats of wildlife, the unique structure of the forest, and various birds. Through tent camping, outdoor adventure games, and various creative activities, team spirit, self-confidence, and sensitivity towards nature were developed among the children. Barnawapara Safari and Educational Tour of Sirpur To enhance the children's knowledge, they were taken on a wildlife safari in the Barnawapara Sanctuary, allowing them to experience the world of wildlife. Additionally, to familiarize them with the historical, cultural, and archaeological heritage of the region, they were taken on an educational tour of the historic city of Sirpur. Children were also involved in community engagement activities, enabling them to understand the deep interconnections between local forest communities and nature. Understood the importance of medicinal plants on World Biodiversity Day During the camp, on the special occasion of World Biodiversity Day, children were taken on a biodiversity trail. Here, local traditional healers provided live information to the children about rare medicinal plants and herbs found in the forests. This activity deeply acquainted the children with our traditional knowledge, biodiversity conservation, and the importance of nature.
