Sufficient Fertilizer Storage in Kabirdham, Inspection of 170 Centers to Prevent Black Market Two sales centers had their licenses suspended and 40 agricultural centers were issued show-cause notices. Raipur, June 30 2026 – The state government is working vigilantly to ensure adequate chemical fertilizer availability for farmers for the 2026 kharif season. District administrations are also maintaining strict monitoring of fertilizer‑seed availability. Authorities are alert to curb black‑market sales. In this effort, Kabirdham district has stored sufficient fertilizer for kharif 2026 and launched a wide‑range inspection drive to prevent black‑market and overpriced sales. Officials said that in Kabirdham district, out of the target of distributing 57,200 metric tonnes of fertilizer, cooperative societies have stored 32,700 metric tonnes, while double‑lock centers hold 5,668 metric tonnes. Through the societies, 21,151 metric tonnes have been distributed to farmers so far. In the private sector, 10,457 metric tonnes have been stored, with 7,639 metric tonnes already distributed to farmers. Distribution through cooperative societies and private sales centers continues. To promote the alternative use of DAP fertilizer, farmers are being educated on the use and distribution of alternative nutrients such as NPK, TSP and SSP as per recommendations of the Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya. Field staff are also conducting extensive awareness campaigns. A district‑level ‘Udan Dasta’ team has been formed to control storage, distribution, black‑market, overpriced sales and other irregularities. Agricultural department officials, the Udan Dasta team and fertilizer inspectors have inspected 170 fertilizer sales centers to date. During inspections, two sales centers had their licenses suspended and 40 agricultural centers received show‑cause notices. All private fertilizer vendors were given strict instructions to ensure distribution at prescribed prices and as per regulations. Recently, in the presence of the collector, a random inspection of three private fertilizer sales centers in Bodla development block was carried out. During the inspection, farmers were briefed on the distribution system and the use of nano‑fertilizers. No complaints of overpriced sales were received. The agriculture department said that throughout kharif 2026, continuous monitoring and action will be maintained to ensure timely fertilizer availability for farmers and effective control of black‑market activities and irregularities.
