Streamlined Permits and Film City Plan Target Cinemaphiles
Cinematic production is set to receive a major boost in Chhattisgarh through a strategic push to create a world-class film city. The administration plans to showcase the region’s spectacular lakes, tribal heritage, and wildlife sanctuaries to a global audience of filmmakers.
To achieve this, a revised state film policy is currently under review, alongside the planned expansion of the Chitrotpala Film City infrastructure. During a comprehensive meeting at the Mahanadi Bhavan, Chief Secretary Vikashil directed officials to identify highly photogenic sites across various districts and implement support schemes to attract video crews.
The approval workflow for filming permits will be completely digitized and accelerated to remove bureaucratic delays. Production teams can anticipate a highly supportive environment backed by streamlined regulations and dedicated facility planning.
The ripple effects on the local economy are expected to be substantial, with tourism operators, lodging facilities, and service providers likely to see increased demand. Moreover, local youth will gain direct access to employment in cinematography, lighting, makeup, and stage management.
The initiative explicitly aims to build a complete value chain rather than just temporary setups. Parallel talks focused on enhancing vocational training in technical fields and integrating food processing innovations, potentially with NIFT oversight. Representatives from urban administration, public health, cultural affairs, forest enterprises, and industrial trade provided critical feedback.
