State-level event on 'Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas' on August 14

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai will be the chief guest, renowned filmmaker Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi will be the chief speaker.

Memories of partition's tragedy, displacement, and struggle will be shared, a special exhibition will also be organized.

Raipur / With the objective of remembering the suffering, displacement, and struggle faced by countless families during the horror of India's partition and to familiarize the new generation with this important chapter of history, the Culture Department, Government of Chhattisgarh will organize a state-level program on August 14 on the occasion of 'Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas' (Partition Horror Remembrance Day). The chief guest at the ceremony, to be held at 12:30 PM at the Muktakashi Manch, Directorate of Archaeology Campus, near Lokbhawan, Civil Lines in the capital Raipur, will be Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai.

The ceremony will be presided over by Culture Minister Shri Rajesh Agarwal. Minister for Forest and Climate Change, Shri Kedar Kashyap will be present as a distinguished guest. Renowned filmmaker and actor Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi will be the chief speaker at the ceremony.

Discourse on the pain of partition and human struggle

The state-level event of 'Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas' will share the memories of displacement, suffering, and struggle faced by millions during the 1947 partition of India. The aim of the program is not only to present the tragedy of partition as a historical event but also to showcase the struggle, courage, and indomitable will to rebuild lives of the affected families to the new generation.

On this occasion, a special exhibition and memorial program focusing on the horrors of partition and the conditions of that era will be organized. Representatives from the Sindhi, Punjabi, and Bengali communities affected by the partition will share memories and experiences related to their families and communities. Students from schools and colleges will also be present in large numbers, so they can closely understand this chapter of history and the human suffering of partition.

Chief speaker of the ceremony, Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, is renowned for effectively presenting Indian history, culture, and literature through cinema and television. Dr. Dwivedi, who gained nationwide recognition with the popular serial 'Chanakya', also directed the acclaimed film 'Pinjar', based on the backdrop of India's partition. He will share his views at the ceremony on the historical-social background of partition, its human tragedy, and related memories.

Vice-Chancellor of Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur, Shri Sachchidanand Shukla will also express his views in the program. The event will be attended by enlightened citizens, public representatives, litterateurs, academicians, representatives of various communities, and media representatives.

Presence of these distinguished guests will grace the occasion

The ceremony will be graced by the presence of Pujya Dr. Yudhishthir Lal Maharaj, Peethadheeshwar of Pujya Shadani Darbar Tirth; Raipur MP Shri Brijmohan Agarwal; Rajya Sabha MP Smt. Laxmi Verma; MLAs Shri Rajesh Moonat, Shri Sunil Soni, Shri Motilal Sahu, Shri Purandar Mishra, and Shri Anuj Sharma; Mayor of Raipur Municipal Corporation Smt. Meenal Choubey; Chairman of Raipur Zila Panchayat Shri Naveen Kumar Agarwal; and former Chairman of Chhattisgarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights Shri Yashwant Jain, along with members of the Culture Council, academicians, and other dignitaries.

This state-level ceremony organized by the Culture Department will be an occasion to pay homage to the memories of millions who lost everything in the tragedy of partition and faced the difficult circumstances of displacement, and also to strengthen the values of unity, harmony, and human sensibility in society.
