New Indoor Sports Hall Expected to Boost Six Games in Mungeli
RAIPUR, 14 Oct 2026 – The Chhattisgarh administration has moved forward with a major sports‑development project in Mungeli district. An administrative clearance of nearly Rs 5 crore has been granted for constructing a multi‑purpose indoor hall on a one‑acre plot in Lachhanpur, under the oversight of Deputy CM Arun Sawai.
Designed to host volleyball, handball, basketball, badminton, kabaddi and martial‑arts, the facility aims to provide athletes with a reliable venue for practice sessions, coaching clinics and competitive events. The hall will fill a longstanding gap in the region’s sports infrastructure.
Officials predict that the modern complex will act as a catalyst for discovering and refining local talent, while also encouraging community participation in organized sports. The project reflects the state’s commitment to expanding opportunities for young people across diverse disciplines.
Sawai has ordered rigorous monitoring of material quality and construction processes. He has made clear that any lapses will be met with appropriate accountability measures as prescribed by state policy.
