Encouraging results are emerging from the initiative of a 50 percent discount on registration fees, implemented by the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai, with the aim of promoting economic empowerment and property ownership for women. According to data from the Registration and Stamp Department, a notable increase has been recorded in property registrations in the names of women.
A comparative analysis by the department of the period from May 06, 2026, to June 30, 2026, with the same period last year, found that the share of sale deeds registered in favor of women was 32 percent in the year 2025, which increased to 41 percent in the year 2026. During the same period, the number of documents registered in the names of women increased from 14,668 to 21,292, indicating a growth of approximately 45 percent.
In about 75 percent of the districts in the state, property registrations in women's names have shown an annual growth of more than 20 percent. Significant progress has been observed in many districts including Janjgir-Champa, Balod, Koriya, Raipur, and Kanker.
As a result of the registration fee discount provided to women, citizens have received a direct economic benefit of approximately Rs 50.14 crore during this period. This has not only promoted property ownership in women's names but has also provided economic relief to families.
Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai said that the state government is giving the highest priority to the economic and social empowerment of women. The decision to provide a 50 percent discount on registration fees to encourage property registration in women's names is a result of this thinking. Women's ownership of property provides them with economic security, as well as greater respect and decision-making power within the family and society.
The Chief Minister said that a large number of families have benefited from this decision, and there has been a significant increase in property registrations in women's names. Finance and Commercial Tax (Registration) Minister Mr. O.P. Choudhary said that this remarkable increase in property registration in women's names is not just a statistical achievement but a sign of social and economic change. When a woman owns property, her confidence grows, her decision-making role in the family is strengthened, and economic security is also ensured.
Minister Mr. Choudhary said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai, the state government is working with women at the center of the development process. The objective of the 50 percent discount on registration fees is not just to provide economic relief but to genuinely empower women by connecting them with property ownership. Initial results indicate that this initiative is proving effective in achieving its objective.
Minister Mr. Choudhary said that the state government is continuously improving to build a citizen-centric, transparent, and inclusive registration system. The increasing participation of women is an important achievement towards building a developed Chhattisgarh.
