Six Suspects Arrested for Assault Linked to Daughter’s Relationship

Chhattisgarh police have secured the custody of six individuals suspected of carrying out a deadly assault on a father who opposed his daughter's relationship. The incident unfolded in the village of Samalpur, where the victim, Gaurav Sahu, was attacked with sticks and a wooden rafter after the assailants broke into his house around midnight. Investigators uncovered that the main accused, Bhanupratap Jain, once had a personal connection with Sahu’s daughter about eighteen months earlier. When Sahu rebuffed Jain’s overtures, the aggrieved party plotted a revenge attack. The police, aided by digital forensics and on‑site evidence collection, traced the suspects to Bilaspur where they were apprehended. Seized items include the bamboo weapons, two motorcycles and a scooter used for the getaway. All six men have been placed under judicial remand as the case proceeds.
