Shashikant Bhart Appeals to State Leaders for Hospital Care and CBI Probe

Ten years after a violent assault left him bedridden, Shashikant Bharat of Devpur has turned his anguish into a public appeal. The incident, which occurred on November 11, 2016, involved unknown attackers who struck him as he walked home from the Bhatgaon ITI. The resulting injuries caused permanent loss of movement, confining him to a mattress for a decade.

Shashikant’s family struggles financially, making it impossible to afford treatment at a tertiary care hospital. He argues that if he had received specialized care soon after the attack, his present condition might have been avoided.

Dissatisfied with the local police’s handling of the case, Shashikant has urged the state government to order a fresh, high‑profile investigation. He specifically requests that the Central Bureau of Investigation take over, confident that a CBI probe can identify the culprits and reveal any possible conspiracy.

His letters have been sent to Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, District Collector Avinash Mishra, and MLA Ambika Markam, seeking both an immediate medical referral to a premier hospital and the commencement of a CBI inquiry. Shashikant emphasizes that he has waited years for justice and proper treatment, and now urges swift action.

In a deeply emotional appeal, he states that if the state fails to provide justice and adequate health care, he would like the legal system to consider granting him the right to a compassionate death. He acknowledges that any decision regarding euthanasia must follow established legal safeguards.

Shashikant also reaches out to the broader public of Chhattisgarh, asking citizens to raise his plight with the authorities, ensuring that his voice is heard and that the administration finally addresses his suffering.
