Champa Patra, a resident of Sakola village panchayat in Ambikapur development block of Sarguja district, shared her Service Story under the Seva Sankalp campaign, saying that earlier the family’s food was cooked on a wood stove. It took a long time from lighting the stove to preparing the meal. Along with that, arranging wood and dealing with smoke were part of daily life. Relief from wet wood and the trouble of lighting the stove Champa says that earlier a lot of effort was needed to light the stove. Because of rain and humidity, wet wood did not ignite quickly. The stove had to be fanned repeatedly and smoke caused tears in the eyes. After getting a gas connection under Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojana, the kitchen experience changed. As soon as the gas is turned on, cooking can start. This saves the time spent lighting the stove and also relieves the problem of wood smoke. Even if a guest arrives suddenly, we can prepare food immediately." No more waiting for the stove to light when guests arrive suddenly Earlier, when guests arrived unexpectedly, time was needed to gather wood, light the stove, and then prepare food. Now, with gas available, cooking can start as soon as needed. This has made Champa’s and her family’s daily routine more comfortable.
