Senior Officials Oversee Intensive Inspection of Raypur Prison
Raypur Central Jail underwent an intensive security inspection on 3 October 2026, lasting from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The operation involved roughly 50 police officers, including members of the Anti‑Crime and Cyber Unit and officers from multiple Central Zone police stations.
Multiple teams were formed to reach different barracks simultaneously. A dedicated team inspected the women’s barracks, maintaining all prescribed safety norms. The raid was coordinated by DCP Crime Smriti Rajnal, DCP Central Zone Tarkeeshwar Patel and ADM Umashankar Bandhe, while senior oversight was provided by Addl. DCP Central Zone Vivek Shukla, Addl. DCP ACCU Gaurav Mandal, ACP Kotwali Deepak Mishra and trainee DSP Amit Kosma, who visited the sites to assess the progress and review security measures.
The comprehensive search did not uncover any prohibited or illicit items. Officials highlighted that periodic surprise checks are essential for strengthening internal prison security and preventing the infiltration of restricted substances.
